Each morning for several years now I have enjoyed an early morning smoothie made in my Vitamix. I love this routine and look forward to it upon rising. My early morning favorite has evolved over the years to become quite a dynamo of nutrition and taste. It melds beautifully with seasonal fruits – fresh or frozen. I especially enjoy adding avocado to create a mousse-like texture. Use the ideas in this recipe to create your own early morning favorite.
Yields: One 16-ounce Smoothie
Special Equipment: High-Powered Blender
2 Large Frozen Bananas, peeled, and cut into thirds
1/3 to 1/2 Ripe Avocado, fresh or frozen, cut into chunks
If you prefer a smoothie texture to a mousse-like texture, replace avocado with:
1 Tablespoon Coconut Butter
2 Tablespoons Pumpkin Seed Protein Powder
6 Chlorella Tablets or 1/2 teaspoon Chlorella Powder (broken-cell wall)
1 teaspoon Moringa Powder (nutrient-dense, iron-rich)
1/2 teaspoon pure Camu Camu Berry Powder (very high in Vitamin C)
1/2 teaspoon Matcha Tea Powder
1 Tablespoon Local Raw Honey or 1 pitted Medjool Date
1 cup Spring or Filtered Water, preferably cold
Place all ingredients in blender container. Using the blender tamper, if your model comes with one, starting on low speed and building to high speed, blend until extra-smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass while scraping down the sides of the blender container. If using the avocado, grab a spoon. Prepare to have untold energy!
